Leaders of nonprofit organizations in Alamance County will learn specific ways to enhance their leadership skills during “Essentials for Leadership of Nonprofit Organizations,” a series of workshops sponsored by Elon University’s Executive Education program and the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, in collaboration with Developing Leaders @ Elon and the Kernodle Center for Service Learning. The first session will be held from 8 a.m.-noon, Thursday, March 31 in the Moseley Center on the Elon campus. Subsequent sessions are scheduled for April 21, May 19 and June 9.
Facilitated by Russ Moxley of Greensboro College and Mary Santiago of Developing Leaders @ Elon, the sessions focus on specific leadership aspects unique to the nonprofit sector and discuss ways to improve strategy and delivery of services. Participants will learn how to apply leadership principles to real life situations and enhance their work to carry out the mission of their own organizations.
“I am excited about what this program offers to those who run nonprofit organizations,” Moxley said. “This series will focus on the essential tasks of leadership, which are creating a vision, maintaining alignment with that vision and effecting and managing change. The ‘Essentials for Leadership of Nonprofit Organizations’ workshop series is a valuable component for enhancing nonprofit capacity.”
The series focuses on professional growth and offers participants half-day seminars at affordable rates, which include brief presentations, experiential activities, and one-on-one discussions with area nonprofit executives. Session topics include: “New Lens on Leadership,” “Leadership and the Self,” “Leadership and Setting Direction,” and “Leadership and Change.”
The registration fee for all four sessions is $295 per person or $490 for two people from the same organization.
