Platania presents at economics conference

Jennifer M. Platania, a faculty member in the department of Economics, presented her paper titled “Housing and Asset Holding in a Dynamic General Equilibrium Model” at the Eastern Economic Association’s annual conference in New York City, March 4-6. This paper is a joint work with Dr. Don Schlagenhauf of Florida State University.

A second piece of Platania’s research was also presented at the conference. “Where Will Willie Play Football: A Model of the College Football Recruiting Process” was presented by her co-author Mike DuMond, from Economic Research Services Inc. This paper develops both a theoretical as well as an empirical analysis of the college football recruiting process, and was recently the topic of an AP wire news story detailing how statistical processes can be used to predict high school football recruits’ choice destinations.
