Four Elon students worked with a history course at Eastern Alamance High School the week of March 7, creating a model for an election campaign and teaching the high school students about civic involvement.
Karen Baum, Ian Hull, Brendan Gleason and Brett Cooper worked with students in Patrick Preudhomme’s class. They helped the students gain an understanding of real-world elections through discussions about voting issues and participatory government.
The Elon students all work with the National Campaign for Political and Civic Engagement, led by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics. The campaign is designed to increase student involvement in electoral politics, civic education and public service careers.
