L’Tanya Richmond, director of multicultural affairs, presented research titled “And Still They Rise: An African American Perspective of Elon’s History” at the Fifth Annual Graduate Student Research Day at Duke University on Wednesday, March 30. Richmond’s research work focuses on the experience of African American students at Elon University from the admission of the first student in 1963 through the present.
The research conference acknowledges and shows appreciation for the scholarly contributions of graduate students to the university. This year’s event had 90 presenters representing 31 departments.
Richmond has also been nominated for “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.” She is recognized for contributions made to the education of our nation’s youth and acknowledged for excellence as a distinguished educator. This is Richmond’s third nomination for the list.
