Renowned ethnobotanist Mark Plotkin will speak at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7 in Whitley Auditorium. Plotkin’s appearance is part of the Voices of Discovery speaker series, which is cosponsored by the Global Studies program, the office of cultural programs and the Liberal Arts Forum. Details.
Plotkin has been hailed by Time magazine as an environmental “Hero for the Planet.” For the last 20 years, he has worked and studied with the shamans of Central and South America to learn about their powerful healing traditions. Plotkin is the author of “Tales of a Shaman’s Apprentice,” “Medicine Quest: In Search of Nature’s Healing Secrets,” and most recently, “The Killers Within,” which focuses on drug-resistant bacteria and new medicines from nature.
