Congratulations to student Katie Donovan and staff member Susan Lindley, winners of this month’s Environmental Awareness Campaign. Both won a Sony PlayStation Portable for coming up with the correct answer to the following question:
Sustainability is an important issue, but nowhere is it more important than in space. A Water Recovery System is used to recover water from urine, wastewaters and moisture in the environment (condensation) during extended space missions. The treated and purified water is utilized by crewmembers for hygiene, potable and food uses. What else is the water used for?
The correct answer is oxygen.
