Love School of Business presents Dean’s Awards for Excellence

The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business recognized this year’s winners of the dean’s awards at a luncheon meeting with the Dean’s Board of Advisors meeting on Thursday April 14. The recipients of the LSB faculty awards were:

  • Dr. Jayoti (Tina) Das, second from right, received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Das was recognized for her command of the subject, ebullient teaching style, and her dedication to the learning of each student, in both her undergraduate and MBA programs.
  • Dr. Kevin O’Mara, far left, received the Dean’s Award for Exemplary Service. Dr. O’Mara was recognized for his outstanding leadership of the Elon MBA Program since 1997. During his tenure as chair of the program the quality of the program, the quality of incoming students, and the reputation of the program have improved greatly, as reflected by the fact that the Elon MBA program will be included in the 2006 edition of the Princeton Review’s Best Business Schools.
  • Dr. Betsy Stevens, second from left, received the Dean’s Award for Exemplary Scholarship. Dr. Stevens was recognized for her several peer-reviewed publications (five in press this year) and for her work in corporate ethics, a theme at the center of the mission of the Love School of Business.

Beginning in 2004, the Love School of Business also presents an award to an individual whose contributions to Elon University – including the Love School of Business – represent excellence in service. This year’s non-LSB recipient of the Dean’s Award for Exemplary Service was Dr. Mark Albertson, far right, Elon Registrar. Dr. Albertson received an award for his outstanding contributions as Registrar of Elon University. Mark was recognized as well for his sustained leadership of the Carret Competition, established by investor Phillip Carret at the suggestion of Mark Albertson several years ago, and for his continued support for the highly popular Winter Term course The Business of NASCAR.

Also recognized for their leadership of their departments were outgoing department chairs Dr. Matt Valle (Chair of the Department of Business Administration for the past four years) and Dr. Greg Lilly (Chair of the Department of Economics for the past six years).
