More than 100 students who have maintained a minimum 3.2 grade point average at Elon were recognized during the banquet.
Special awards were given to one male and female student in each class, as well as the male and female student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point avereage.
Special award recipients were:
- Freshman female-Brandy Troxler
- Freshman male-Bernard Coston
- Sophomore female-Eden Esters
- Sophomore male-Michael Brandon
- Junior female-Raechel Hester
- Junior male-Phillipe Charles
- Senior female-Kristina Foster
- Senior male-Darris Means
- Female athlete-Rochelle Reid
- Male athlete-Michael Brandon
The banquet program included remarks by Shelia Dove Burnette ’95, assistant principal at Rashkis Elementary School in Chapel Hill, NC. A past recipient of Elon’s Black Excellence Academic Award, Burnette completed the N.C. Teaching Fellows program at Elon and graduated magna cum laude from the honors program. She has been a teacher and administrator in public schools in the Alamance-Burlington and Chapel Hill-Carrboro public schools.
