Juliane Hammer, Assistant Professor for Religious Studies, co-organized and co-hosted a symposium on April 30 titled “Anti-Western Critiques in Turkey, Iran and Japan: Historical and Comparative Perspectives.” The symposium was sponsored by the Harvard Academy for International Studies, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Reischauer Institute for Japanese Studies and the took place at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University.
The event brought together 12 scholars from various areas and disciplines to discuss parallels and differences in the historical emergence and contemporary significance of anti-Western critiques. The proceedings of the symposium will be published.
