Frances Ward-Johnson, an associate professor in the School of Communications, served as a panelist at the 96th Annual Conference of the Eastern Communication Association held April 27-May 1 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Ward-Johnson served on a panel titled “Twenty Years After Geraldine Ferraro, Are Women Communicating Greater Expectations in Politics?”
Ward-Johnson discussed her research titled “Unbought and Unbossed: African American Women Presidential Candidates and Their Portrayals in the Media.” Her research focuses on the campaigns of Shirley Chisholm, who ran for president in 1972, and Carol Moseley Braun, who ran in 2004.
