John G. Sullivan, Powell Professor of Philosophy, will give the graduation speech at Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts in Laurel, Md. on June 12.
In 2000, Dr. Sullivan was principal designer of a new Master’s Degree program at the Institute. The program, called a Master of Arts in Applied Healing Arts, is offered in executive format over a three-year period. The first class entered in January 2002 and will graduate this June along with graduates of the older MA in Traditional Acupuncture program, and graduates of a newer MA in Botanical Herbs program.
The MA in Applied Healing Arts is similar to a master of arts in liberal studies. It invites adult learners to a wider world in the context of nature and the wisdom traditions and a deeper work of daily practice. It concludes with each learner giving a grateful gift – a Project of Excellence that will make a difference in the learner’s community. For more on this program, see http://www.tai.edu
