Many School of Communications faculty and staff members are taking part in the annual conference of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications in San Antonio Aug. 9-13.
David Copeland will be a presenter in two sessions, delivering a talk titled “It’s Primary: The Importance of Primary Documents in Conducting Research” at a special workshop for the Standing Committee on Research, and also leading a special session on “Media and War” that is tied to the release of the new series of history books he edited for Greenwood Press.
Janna Quitney Anderson will be recognized at the conference for winning second place in the AEJMC “Best of the Web” competition for the “Imagining the Internet Predictions Database” site, which can be found at http://www.elon.edu/predictions
Frances Ward Johnson will be the discussant in a research session hosted by the Minorities and Communication Division. Dean Paul Parsons and Department Chair Don Grady will represent Elon at a number of functions.
Ocek Eke will present his research piece “C-SPAN, See White: A Critical Analysis of Washington Journal’s Guests.” Eke examined the guest list of the popular cable/satellite TV program for a one-month period and found it to be dominated by white males.
