Art historian to discuss Crusades and Medieval art, September 14

Jaroslav Folda, considered the United States’ preeminent historian of the art of the Crusades, will discuss his recent research during a presentation titled “Crusader Artistic Interaction with the Mongols” at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Center for the Arts on campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Folda is the N. Ferebee Taylor Professor of the History of Art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He will share his research into the ornamental motif of chintamani in Medieval art, particularly as it relates to the Crusades and the multicultural interactions of the period. He has written or edited six books on Medieval art.
