Elon Professional Volunteers collect hurricane relief supplies

The Elon Professional Volunteers, a group of single Elon University faculty and staff, met Friday, Sept. 9 at the home of Betsy Stevens, associate professor in the Love School of Business, to package toiletries. The items will be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina evacuees who are staying at the Greensboro Coliseum. Members of the group also took a donation of Food from Food Lion to the Loaves-and-Fishes drop-off center on Saturday morning.

The group performs one-time volunteer activities for the Elon and Burlington communities on an as-needed basis. Charities in the area can request the group’s help for any community project. In October, the group will provide the food and cook dinner at a local homeless shelter.
