Trustees of Elon University installed four new board members during their fall meeting, held Sept. 23-24 on campus. They are Wesley R. Elingburg, Greensboro, N.C.; William J. Inman, McLean, Va.; Bob E. McKinnon, a 1962 Elon alumnus from Charlotte, N.C.; and Randall L. Orwig of Virginia Beach, Va.
Elingburg recently retired from Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp), where he served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer since 1996. Previously, he served as senior vice president of finance. Before joining LabCorp, Elingburg was senior vice president of finance and treasurer with Roche Biomedical Laboratories. Before his career in the pharmaceutical industry, Elingburg worked for the international firm KPMG. Since 2000, he has served on Elon’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business advisory board. He is a graduate of Western Carolina University.
Inman is president of NVR Mortgage, a company he co-founded in 1983, which provides mortgage lending in 11 states. NVR Mortgage is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NVR, Inc., which builds houses, condominiums and townhouses. He served as executive vice president of the company’s mortgage unit from 1983 to 1989, when he was promoted to president of NVR Mortgage. Inman, who served in the U.S. Army, graduated with an accounting degree from Bryant Stratton College. His stepdaughter, Jacklyn, is a 2000 Elon graduate.
McKinnon was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1995 to 2001 and has served Elon in a variety of other capacities. He was Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in 1993, was president of the Alumni Association and a member of Elon’s Board of Visitors. He served as national chair of the Campaign for the Elon Vision and made major gifts to name McKinnon Hall in Moseley Center and McKinnon Field in Rhodes Stadium. He is currently chair and CEO of McKinnon-Land-Moran, LLC.
Orwig was installed as an ex officio trustee. He is pastor of Tidewater United Church of Christ in Virginia Beach and was recently elected president of the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ.
