Chronicle staff writer Andrea Foster visited campus June 15 for a workshop hosted by Karen Marsh-Lovvorn, a designer in Elon’s instructional design and development office. Eight faculty members participated in the workshop on Second Life, a virtual world where participants take on an animated character, live in virtual buildings and form relationships.
The technology is intriguing to educators because it provides a laboratory for the study of human behavior. The Chronicle story includes quotes from several Elon faculty members who participated in the workshop, as well as senior Jon Maggio, who is researching Second Life and other virtual world technologies.
