Mould publishes book chapter

Tom Mould, assistant professor of sociology and general studies, has published a chapter in a new book about the folk roots of American masculinities, “Manly Traditions.”

Mould’s chapter is titled, “‘Running the Yard’: The Negotiation of Masculinities in African American Stepping.” The book includes a variety of essays from established scholars in the field of folklore, men’s studies and gender studies that identify the folkloric roots of what it means to be a man in America.

“Manly Traditions” is published by Indiana University Press and edited by Simon Bronner.
