Changes to campus parking

To accommodate the reduction of parking spaces in the Jordan Center lot due to construction of The Oaks, a new parking lot was built behind the Koury Business Center and is ready for use. It is accessible via the new road next to the Daniel Commons; please do not drive personal vehicles on the tram path.

Students assigned to park in the new lot include all Jordan Center residents (JC permit), except seniors and student staff, and Smith Hall first-year students (RS permit). This lot is also an overflow lot for all commuter lots (CS permit), the residents of the West Residence area (SW permit), and the residents of Greek A-F houses (GC permit) who park in the McMichael Center lot. Please note that Danieley Center residents (DC-1 permits) may not park in the new lot.

There will be no change in parking assignments other than those noted above. However, parking will be tighter on campus with the loss of spaces in the Jordan Center lot. Please note the following:

1. Overflow parking for commuters is in the East building lot and the new lot by the Daniel Commons.

2. Faculty and staff overflow parking is in the Community Church parking lot and the East building parking lot.

3. The Danieley Tram will service the new lot from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. on weekdays, and from 7 p.m to 3 a.m. on weekends, and bring students to the McMichael lot. Students may use the Campus Security Escort Service when the tram is not scheduled to operate.

4. Students with parking permits may park in the Moseley Center lot after 4 p.m. on Mondays

through Fridays in order to access the Mail Room and Campus Shop.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

1. Carpool. When coming to campus, call a friend to see if they can pick you up on the way or you can give them a ride.

2. Take the shuttle or walk/skate/cycle to campus

3. Leave for class early so you can find a parking place if you have to look at more than one parking lot.

4. Park in the new lot if you are a commuter coming in from the east of campus. It is expected there will be some spaces in the new lot that will be accessible from the drive into the Danieley Center, next to the Daniel Commons.

CONFERENCES and MEETINGS

Anyone planning conferences and meetings on campus is asked to contact Campus Safety and Police (ext. 5555) to check availability of parking in the Moseley visitor spaces (25 slots), the Community Church lot and the Ingold lot by Rhodes Stadium so they may instruct their guests accordingly. Cultural Programs and the Athletic Department will advise guests to park in the McMichael, Moseley and Ingold lots for large events when the Jordan Center lot is at capacity.

If you have questions of comments, feel free to email us at any time.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as the University increases its housing and meeting spaces for students.

Sincerely,

Chuck Gantos
