Students in a Programming and Event Management class taught by Hal Walker, associate professor of leisure and sport management, held two events recently to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington.
The students organized a Mr. Elon pageant, held Nov. 9, where Elon students were judged on personal style, talent, formal wear and responses to various questions. Kamal Jobe was chosen as the winner by a panel of judges that included faculty and staff members, as well as Sherri Henderson of the Boys & Girls Club.
On Nov. 16, the class hosted a laser tag tournament, Phoenix Force, held at the LazerX facility in Burlington. The winning team, called “Sweet Tea-No Ice,” included Carter Hulcher, Andrew Southern, Daniel Miller, Kris Mannen, Jason Biagini, Kyle Schutt, Nick Mark and Marvin Morgan.
