President Lambert, trustees on Business Journal’s Most Influential list

President Leo M. Lambert and trustees Tom Chandler, Allen Gant, Jack Lindley and Jim Powell have been named to the Triad Business Journal's 2006 Most Influential list. The special section was part of the Dec. 16 edition of the Business Journal. Details...

Lambert was recognized in the Community Cornerstones category, those the Business Journal describes as leaders who “ensure the health, education and well-being of the region’s people, and therefore constitute a firm foundation upon which the Triad can build.” Lambert’s entry reads, “In addition to growing Elon’s reputation as an institution, Lambert is extending its reach in the Triad through the new law school campus opening in downtown Greensboro, and through leadership roles with Project Pericles and Campus Compact, two initiatives that promote student community involvement.”

Lambert was also recognized in January 2005 by the Business Journal in a listing of the 50 “most influential people” in the Triad.

Chandler, Lindley and Powell were recognized in the Old Guard category, leaders who have years of service through board memberships and involvement with successful community initiatives. Chandler serves as CEO of Chandler Concrete Co., in Burlington and has served on various boards, including Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Lindley is CEO of Industrial Paper Products, Inc., and has been an active member of the Alamance County community for more than 40 years. He serves on three foundations and has served as secretary-treasurer of his church for 42 consecutive years.

Powell serves as chair of the Elon University Board of Trustees and is founder and former CEO of Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) in Burlington. He has served on the local school board and is a board member at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Gant is recognized in the Avant-Garde category, highlighting area leaders who have used unconventional wisdom to “accomplish what others might write off as impossible.” Gant is chairman and CEO of Glen Raven, Inc., serving on President Bush’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy & Negotiations. He is also on the board at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

A total of 75 Triad business and community leaders were recognized on the list. They were honored at a reception Dec. 13.
