Several events on campus will feature a Global Village theme and all members of the Elon community are invited to take part. Details...
A variety of locations will host events centered around the Global Village theme this week:
- Tuesday, Jan. 10, 6 p.m., International Dinner in Harden–International students will present displays about their native lands, including Korea, Haiti, Belize, Germany and Japan.
- Wednesday, Jan. 11, Harden celebrates Spain for lunch and dinner. El Centro opens a film festival with “Maria Full of Grace” at 11:30 a.m. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program will begin at noon in Whitley Auditorium.
- Thursday, Jan. 12–Harden celebrates Australia for lunch and Costa Rica for dinner, and salsa dancing and lessons will be presented in Harden Meeting Room A beginning at 6 p.m.
- Friday, Jan. 13–Elon students will serve as cultural ambassadors by guiding local 7th and 8th grade students on a tour of displays, presentations and activities from around the world in Moseley 215 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event will include a live didgeridoo performance, a soundtrack of Langston Hughes reading his poetry and a variety of arts and crafts. The event is open to the public.
Also on Friday, lunch and dinner in Harden will celebrate Africa, and El Centro will show “Motorcycle Diaries” at 11:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, Jan. 18–El Centro screening of “Like Water for Chocolate” at 12:30 p.m.
- Friday, Jan. 20–Info Share in Yeager Recital Hall from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Students will present their Winter Term experiences through mini-performances and presentations.
