Last November the Elon Community was fortunate to host the “Showband of the Carolinas” alumni band in tribute to Dr. Jack White. The alumni generously donated funds which will be given to a limited number of worthy band students currently on-campus for the Fall marching season of 2003 and the Elon University Wind Ensemble for the Spring of 2004. These scholarships are one-year, non-renewable, and are in addition to the standard $150 participation award currently allocated to every member of the marching band. Students who play any wind or percussion instrument interested in auditioning for these scholarships may contact Dr. Bill DeJournett at extention 5700 or at wdejournett@elon.edu. Students do not have to have previous marching experience to be eligible for these awards. Auxiliary members may audition if they play a wind or percussion instrument and intend to participate in the Elon University Wind Ensemble in the Spring Semester of 2004.
