Anne Bolin, professor of anthropology, and Jane Granskog of California State University at Bakersfield have co-edited “Athletic Intruders: Ethnographic Research on Women, Culture, and Exercise.” The book was released in January by the State University of New York Press.
The anthology investigates women’s place in sport and exercise from a sociocultural perspective. The book contains personal testimonies documenting women’s struggle to gain acceptance in the male-dominated sports culture.
Bolin, a competitive bodybuilder, also co-wrote “Perspectives on Human Sexuality,” which was released by SUNY Press in 1999.
