Rob Brown, who has held a variety of positions at the University of Kentucky over the past 10 years, has been named director of purchasing at Elon University. Brown replaces Vickie Somers, who was promoted to director of auxiliary enterprises in May.
At Elon, Brown will coordinate negotiations for the purchase of products and services, as well as the management of proposal requests, bids and procurement activities.
Brown has served as assistant director of purchasing at the University of Kentucky since 1999, where he managed the department’s staff, administered contractual arrangements and administered and interpreted purchasing laws and regulations. He also served as central manager of the university’s large departmental store system from 1993-1999.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and distribution education from Virginia Tech in 1980.
