An upgrade in Elon’s 911 telephone system will allow emergency dispatchers to see more detailed information about calls originating from campus. Dispatchers will now be alerted to the street and building names, the room number and the telephone number making the call. This will be of great benefit to police, fire and ems personnel.
Previously, 911 calls from campus only told dispatchers that the call originated from Elon, but gave no additional information.
