Chakrabarti to direct globalization conference

Chandana Chakrabarti, associate professor of religion, will direct an international and interdisciplinary conference March 6-7 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. Titled “Globalization, Diasporic Thinking and Transnationalism: Bridging Cultural, Philosophical and Religious Boundaries,” the conference will explore a variety of issues related to globalization and the localization of trade, globalization vs. capitalism and Gandhi’s idea of a self-sufficient village.

Scholars, professionals, community activists, graduate students and others who wish to present papers at the conference, or facilitate the discussion by serving as chairs or commentators, should submit abstracts (150 words) of their papers by Feb. 15.
