The Department of Performing Arts will present William Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors” Wednesday, Feb. 5 – Saturday, Feb. 8 in the Black Box Theatre, located in the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts on campus. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Professor Richard P. Gang directs the play, one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies. Gang’s extensive and varied acting career includes classical work in “Much Ado About Nothing,” “Taming of the Shrew,” “The Winter’s Tale,” “Comedy of Errors” and “Two Gentlemen of Verona.” A lack of male performers, due in part to another performance during winter term, caused Gang to flip the traditionally male Shakespearean performance on its head and present “Comedy of Errors” with an all-female cast. The play is a tale of mistaken identity between two sets of lost twins, misdirected romance, wacky servants and confused masters.
Reservations are recommended. Tickets for the performance are $10, or free for those with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Black Box Theatre reservation line at (336) 278-5650. The reservation line is open 24 hours.
