Ellis, a member of the Elon faculty since 1995, will serve as the Gordon Russell Visiting Associate Professor in Dartmouth’s Native American Studies Program.
The professorship is awarded annually to an established scholar in the field of Native Studies. Ellis will teach two courses and moderate a series of faculty seminars during Dartmouth’s winter quarter.
Ellis is the author or editor of three books and 24 scholarly essays on Native American studies, including his highly-acclaimed book “To Change Them Forever.” A consultant to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, Ellis will complete a book on powwow culture this fall for the University of Kansas Press.
