Elon MBA students place in state competition

A team of three Elon students took third place in the annual NC Small Business and Technology Development Center competition. Details...

Each year MBA student teams participate in a statewide competition sponsored by the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development
Center (SBTDC), a business development service of the University of North Carolina. All totaled, 20 student teams participated in this year’s
competition with 11 teams from seven schools in the final statewide competition. The student teams work with actual client companies to address issues of significant importance to the companies.

This is the fourth year an Elon team has finished in the top three in the statewide competition. No other MBA program in North Carolina can make that claim.

Two of the members of the winning team are also Elon staff members. The are Sylvia Munoz from El Centro de Espanol and Teresa Walker from the Love School of Business. The third member of the team is Rich Garner from Jefferson Pilot Financial.

Sylvia, Rich and Teresa worked with TS Designs of Burlington in developing a marketing plan for REHANCE, a registered trademark and patented technology for producing environmentally conscious casual clothing. Eric Henry from TS Designs and a member
of the Love School of Business Board of Advisors was the client for this project.

Another Elon team that competed in the event included Brad Spitz, Courtney Mayock and
Bob Burns.
