Singleton also competed in the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan. Before those Olympics, Singleton was featured in a nationally-aired IBM commercial which was filmed in Bermuda.
A financial reporter for Bloomberg Television in Tokyo, Singleton has received extensive media coverage as Bermuda’s lone winter Olympian. He was singled out during the telecast of the Opening Ceremonies by NBC host Katie Couric, who noted that Singleton was carrying his country’s flag in the cold stadium wearing walking shorts. Singleton also made the front page of the weekend edition of the Financial Times, a London newspaper. FT featured a color, three-column Associated Press photo of Singleton at the end of a practice run.
