The list, compiled by the Charlotte Business Journal and published in a special June 1 edition, profiles 40 Charlotte, N.C., area residents under the age of 40 who are making major strides in their careers and impacting their communities.
Drakeford is a principal in his own firm, The Drakeford Company. Previously, he worked as a financial analyst and vice president of development with Trammell Crow Company. From 1991-1995, Drakeford worked for the Internal Revenue Service as an estate tax attorney.
In addition to his service on the Elon board, Drakeford is an active citizen in Charlotte. He serves on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity, and is a member of the Citizens Transit Advisory Group and the Black Political Caucus.
Drakeford earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Elon, holds an MBA from Wake Forest University, and a law degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
