The college’s United Way campaign was chaired by Susan Semonite, assistant dean of admissions. The college was honored with the Gold Award, presented to employee groups that achieve more than 75 percent of their giving potential.
The college received an award for the most creative campaign. Rudy, a 150-pound pot-belly pig owned by Bob Orndorff, director of the career center, was the campaign mascot, making appearances at special events, sending out campaign e-mails and promoting the effort with sidewalk chalk.
Provost Gerry Francis was honored for his work as chair of the United Way’s educational division. He was elected chair of the United Way 2000 campaign.
Ken Mullen, controller, was named assistant treasurer of the United Way’s executive board.
