The Smith family donated funding for the plaques in memory of Alyse Smith Cooper. The bronze plaques detail significant events in the history of Elon and also include historical photographs. The project is the work of a committee headed by Provost Gerald Francis. The colonnade location provides room for future growth for this permanent campus feature.
