Human rights advocate to speak Feb. 20

Kevin Danaher, co-founder of the international human rights organization Global Exchange, will deliver a speech titled “Democratic Globalization vs. Corporate Globalization,” at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20 in Whitley Auditorium. Sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum, his speech is free and open to the public.

Danaher contends global organizations, such as the World Trade Organization and the World Bank, advance the interests of multinational corporations at the expense of communities, families, human rights and the environment. He will outline how another type of globalization, a grassroots effort dedicated to fair trade, is possible if citizens unite.
