Library says thanks to custodial staff

Cecelia Vega, Hector Basulto and Clementine Pinnix were honored by Belk Library staff with breakfast Wednesday morning for their efforts to make the library one of the cleanest places on campus. Details...

Pictured from left, Vega, Basulto and Pinnix are the reason students rated Belk Library’s cleanliness so high, says librarian Kate Hickey. Together, they take responsibility for cleaning a building which houses 36 employees and sees between 1,000-2,000 students each day.

Elon students recently completed a survey which asked them to evaluate various offices and departments on campus in areas such as hours of operation, cleanliness, staff expertise and friendliness. This is the second straight year Belk Library has received the highest marks in the cleanliness category.

Hickey presented Pinnix, Vega and Basulto with a Belk Library coffee mug, a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble and a proclamation which reads:

“Congratulations to Cecelia, Hector and Clementine: Because of your hard work Belk Library received the highest marks for cleanliness on a student services survey. We are grateful to you and very glad you are part of the Library team. Thank you!”
