Please read this note for information on use of the new Phoenix graphics and other college symbols.
With the successful launch of the Phoenix, College Relations and
Athletics have received many questions regarding use of the new graphics symbols.
To clarify some confusion and answer your questions:
The Phoenix graphics form Elon’s athletics identity and are
appropriate for athletics or general school spirit uses. We have already seen inappropriate uses, with the graphics appearing in incorrect colors or
in non-athletic publications. To ensure that the symbols are used
correctly and appropriately, ALL use of the Phoenix logos should be
cleared through Trip Durham, assistant director of athletics for
marketing and home event operations. Trip has the graphics
and can tell you if your use is appropriate. Trip also will have access to new variations of the Phoenix graphics which are currently being developed.
Meantime, the Office of College Relations is developing a new
institutional graphics package that will be available for all
non-athletics applications. This will emphasize the word Elon and convey
the strong qualities that distinguish the college. The new marks will
be available for business cards, stationary, academic and departmental
publications. These marks will replace the current cupola graphic that
has been used as an institutional symbol. Our goal is to have the new
marks completed before the beginning of fall semester. We will notify
you about progress and how you can obtain the new graphics. We’ll also publish a style manual to detail the proper uses of all college symbols.
Please contact Dan Anderson at X2231 if you have questions. Thanks!
