Almost 600 Elon students studying abroad are among the 3,900 enrolled for Winter Term 2003, which opened Friday, Jan. 3. Details...
With the theme “Globalization and Culture,” Elon’s three-week Winter Term began Jan. 3. Approximately 35 courses directly related to that theme are being offered, including courses such as “Dance in Worship Around the World,” “Sustainable Development in a Global Economy,” and “The New Latino South.”
Nearly 600 students are studying abroad this January in 25 study abroad courses. Elon students are gaining hands-on knowledge by studying topics such as the business and culture of New Zealand, the heritage of Andean cultures in Peru and fine arts in England and Italy.
A highlight of Winter Term is the Jan. 16 address by noted journalist and author David Halberstam. His speech will focus on his latest book, “War in a Time of Peace: Bush, Clinton, and the Generals,” an analysis of the impact of domestic policies on post-Cold War U.S. foreign policy. Elon’s Winter Term offers students the chance to work closely with faculty, immersing themselves in focused academic studies of various subjects.
