Award-winning filmmaker Albert Maysles will discuss his 50-year career making documentary films during a guest lecture at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus.
Maysles is recognized as a pioneer of “direct cinema,” the distinctly American version of French “cinema verité.” He has served as director of cinematography for “Letting Go: A Hospice Journey,” “Abortion: Desperate Choices,” and “Gimme Shelter,” a documentary of the Rolling Stones’ harrowing 1969 concert tour.
Sponsored by the School of Communications and the Liberal Arts Forum, Maysles’s lecture is free and open to the public.
