Alumnus Patrick Singleton finished in 19th place out of 27 competitors in the men's skeleton competition at the XX Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy. The competition was held Friday, Feb. 17. Details...
Representing his native Bermuda, Singleton posted a cumulative 2-heat time of 1:59.81, less than 4 seconds off the winning pace of 1:55.88 set by gold medalist Duff Gibson of Canada. Singleton’s second heat of the day was his fastest at 59.75 sec.
The Torino Games marked the third Olympiad for Singleton, but his first in the men’s skeleton event. He qualified in the men’s luge in 1998 in Nagano, Japan and in 2002 in Salt Lake City.
Since switching to the skeleton event, Singleton has won two races and participated in the FIBT World Championships. He recently earned the 2005 Bermuda Gold Award for Athlete of the Year.
Singleton earned his Elon degree in journalism and communications. He has worked for Bloomberg Television as a financial reporter and producer in Tokyo and London.
