The Elon University board of trustees approved faculty promotions during a March 1 meeting. Thirteen faculty members were promoted and 13 were granted tenure by the board.

- Thomas Nelson, Communications
- Carol Smith, Physical Education
- Linda Marie Wood, Art
- Alexander Yap, Business Administration/Computing Sciences
Promoted to senior lecturer:
- Lisa Beuerle, Mathematics
- Teresa Walch, Health and Human Performance
The board granted tenure to Coles Arangala; Barnett; William J. Burpitt, Jr.; Matthew W. Clark; Victor J. Costello; Crider; Hall; Martin Kamela; Myers; Robert M. Pavlik; Smith; Wood; and Yap.
The board was informed that Nelson was granted professional status.
