Two Elon students received first place Derieux Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research awards at the annual meeting of the North Carolina Academy of Science held March 24-26 at Bennett College, Greensboro, N.C.
Kyle Troester won first place for a poster in the chemistry, math and physics section, and Nicole Miller won first place for a poster in the biology section. Troester’s faculty mentor was John Reilly, assistant professor of chemistry, and Miller’s faculty mentor was Linda Niedziela, assistant professor of biology.
Also presenting at the conference were students Beth Rice (faculty mentor: Jeffrey Coker) and Jesica Townsend (faculty mentor: Linda Niedziela).
Faculty members Michael Kingston and Yuko Miyamoto also attended the meeting.
