Jim Schlossnagle ’92, head baseball coach at Texas Christian University, will serve as an assistant coach this summer on the 2006 USA Baseball National Team. The team will compete internationally, selecting its final roster from 34 of the nation’s top freshman and sophomore collegiate players. Team USA will play games this summer at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C., and conclude the summer by competing in the III FISU World University Baseball Championships in Havana, Cuba. The team will also compete in the 35th annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series.
“In my opinion, being a part of the USA National Team coaching staff is one of the highest honors that a college coach can achieve,” Schlossnagle said in a TCU news release. “I look forward to the opportunity to represent our great country in international play this summer.”
Schlossnagle was a pitcher on the 1989 Elon team that finished 39-7. He also served as an assistant coach at Elon for three seasons.
