Elon's School of Communications celebrated its new ACEJMC accreditation at a special College Coffee, May 9. Read this note for more and audio clips from the event.
President Leo M. Lambert said achieving ACEJMC accreditation fulfills a major objective of Elon’s NewCentury@Elon strategic plan. He praised the work of the school’s faculty and administration in meeting accreditation standards of the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC), and detailed the superlatives that are contained in the accreditation report.

Communications student Meghan Packer and Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications, also spoke at the event. Packer noted that Elon’s facilities and talented faculty are the envy of her peers at other universities. Parsons said the school has been greatly enhanced by the accreditation process. ACEJMC noted the strengths of Elon’s program:
- Dedicated and collegial faculty
- Service-learning orientation that pervades the School and campus culture
- Very effective School leadership and administration, and very supportive central university administration
- Open, friendly School and campus culture that creates a strong community for students and supports their engagement in a wide variety of activities
- Excellent School facilities and equipment
- Deeply rooted university and School culture of strategic planning, tied to equally strong plan implementation
