The faculty and staff of the Department of Physical Therapy Education are pleased to announce that the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association has voted to reaffirm accreditation to the physical therapist education program at Elon University for a period of ten years, subject to continued compliance with the Evaluative Criteria.
Elon’s DPT program is among the first to undergo accreditation under new, more rigorous CAPTE criteria. According to associate dean Elizabeth Rogers, the standards in the evaluation were very high and there were no areas in which the Commission judged Elon as being out of compliance.
“The Department of Physical Therapy Education wishes to thank all those who participated in the preparation of the self-study report and to meet with the on-site visitors,” Rogers says. “Maintaining an accredited DPT program is essential because graduates cannot sit for the licensure examination unless they are graduates of an accredited program.”
