Members of the Elon community are invited to attend these upcoming summer events on wellness issues. These free programs will be held in Whitley Auditorium:
June 13, 7-9 p.m.
Event Name: Kilowatt Ours “A Plan to Re-Energize America”
Additional Information:
This is the first is a series of three films which look at community and environmental issues that will impact our health in the future. Kilowatt Ours is a film that reveals the consequences of our coal powered economy and solutions to America’s energy related problems. Through this learning experience viewers discover how they can save hundreds of dollars annually on energy bills, and use a portion of the savings to purchase renewable energy.

Event Name: The Future of Food

This is the second is a series of three films which look at community and environmental issues that will impact our health in the future. There is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America–a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat! The “Future of Food” is a film that offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade.

Event Name: The End of Suburbia

This is the third and final in a series of three films which look at community and environmental issues that will impact our health in the future. With brutal honesty and a touch of irony, The End of Suburbia explores the American way of life and its prospects as the planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. As we enter the 21st century, serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life.
