Football season ticket campaign under way

More than 50 fans and community members met Tuesday night, June 27 at Rhodes Stadium to continue Elon’s “Fans for the Phoenix” ticket campaign. The effort aims to increase season ticket sales for the 2006 football season, which kicks off Sept. 2.

Trip Durham, associate director of athletics, organized the ticket drive, which began with an opening meeting June 13. Almost 90 people have signed up to contact others in the local community, encouraging their support of Elon athletics through the purchase of season tickets. The group is divided into approximately 25 teams of three people each. The teams who sign up the most new season ticket buyers will earn prizes, such as merchadise from local merchants and sideline passes to an Elon football game.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the group was thanked by Athletics Director Dave Blank and Head Football Coach Pete Lembo for their participation in the ticket drive. The teams finalized their call lists and will begin contacting prospective season ticket holders in the coming weeks.

The drive will conclude July 25, when “Fans for the Phoenix” teams will gather for a celebration and a final tally of new season ticket packages sold.

New season ticket buyers and their families will be invited to a pick up party Tuesday, Aug. 22 at Rhodes Stadium. Fans will be able to pick up their new season tickets, check out their seat location in the stadium and enjoy dinner courtesy of the Phoenix.
