An essay authored by Mathew Gendle, assistant professor of psychology, was recently published by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Titled “Scholar, Global Thinker, and Hypocrite,” the work was included in the July 20 online edition of Chronicle Careers. In the essay, Gendle (who will be beginning his third year as a GST 110 instructor this fall) discusses why teaching Global often makes him feel like a hypocrite. The work explores the difficulty he faces in educating students regarding the adverse outcomes of globalization, while at the same time being a willing participant in the capitalist system producing these ill effects.
