Elon's new Phoenix Club will officially take flight during a special "Launch Party" prior to Elon's opening football game on Saturday, Sept. 9. Among those in attendance will be players from Elon's 1980 and 1981 championship teams. Details...
The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. under the tent at Irwin Belk Track/Alan and Norma White Field adjacent to Rhodes Stadium. Elon takes on Towson University in its non-conference home opener at 6 p.m.
The Elon Board of Trustees approved the Phoenix Club as the new fund-raising organization for Elon athletics earlier this year, officially replacing the Elon Athletics Foundation on June 1. All gifts made to the Phoenix Club support annual athletics scholarships.
Huey’s BBQ and beverages will be provided along with entertainment at the Launch Party tailgate event. Admission is $15 per adult and $10 for children ages 12 and under. Phoenix Club members at the $500 (Talon) level and higher will receive two complimentary tickets. To RSVP or to obtain further information, please contact Brian Tracy at (336) 278-6797 or btracy@elon.edu.
At the event, a raffle will be held for all eligible Phoenix Club members. Raffle prizes include two Delta airline tickets for the continental United States, a Carolina Panthers ticket package and Elon Phoenix ticket packages. Phoenix Club members become eligible for the raffle by making their contribution or pledge by Sept. 6.
Members of Elon’s 1980 and 1981 NAIA national championship football teams, coached by Elon Sports Hall of Famer Jerry Tolley, will be in attendance at the Launch Party. More details are available on the Phoenix Club website at www.elon.edu/phoenixclub.
