Managers from area organizations including LabCorp, Lincoln Financial, Samet Corporation, Alamance Regional Medical Center, Carolina Biological Supply Company, and the City of Burlington sharpened their skills by attending two half-day seminars offered Aug. 14 by Elon University Executive Education as part of The Project Leadership Series. These seminars marked the first use of the LabCorp Suite for Executive Education in the new Ernest A. Koury, Sr. Business Center.
The morning session, “The Project Management Executive Seminar,” offered participants an overview of best practices and methodologies in project management based on the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). The afternoon session was “Risk Management in the Project Environment.”
The LabCorp Suite for Executive Education contains three classrooms, breakout rooms, and a unique collaborative computer lab, providing an ideal venue for the seminars. The sessions employ interactive instructional techniques that are in keeping with Elon’s philosophy of engaged learning.
The series continues Aug. 15-17 with a three-day “Fundamentals of Project Management” class. The Project Leadership Series is offered in conjunction with Tanden LLC, a premier project management consulting and education firm based in Raleigh, N.C., and with the Piedmont Triad Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Participants in the series may earn their Certificate in Project Leadership by completing four classes, or three classes and three seminars within a two year period.
