A lively concert featuring the classic and contemporary works of American composers will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The program will include some of the best jazz compositions from the greats of American music, including George Gershwin, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael and others. Bill Grimes, E. & D. White Professor of Jazz Studies and director of graduate studies at the Louisiana State University School of Music, will perform on bass. Willis Delony on piano and Troy Davis on percussion are also scheduled to perform, along with Stephen Futrell, director of choral activities at Elon.
